who we are
our story
“Lifeing” is a division of Jasmine-Ghrer Consulting (a company owned and managed by Willem and Marlene van Rensburg for 18 years).
At the heart of what “Lifeing” is about, is the vision to stretch minds by new experiences so that there is no return to its old dimensions. This is achieved by ‘doing life in bite sized chunks’.
we have been involved for many years, with the creation of and involvement in a number of educational programmes concerning the youth of our country, to educate and train them in various life changing programmes, in order to uplift them and provide hope for a better future.
Through these initiatives, it became evident that once a student grasps a principal of sowing and reaping, there are practical applications required for them to move ahead and become independent individuals. To achieve this, assistance is needed to teach and educate the individuals at a practical level.

Ripple Sewing classes
“Changing lives stitch-by-stitch”
-about the program-
During the Covid lockdown in 2020, Lifeing started to teach individuals from previously disadvantaged environments, the art of sewing in a formal classroom environment (in Ballito, North Coast), and to provide them with the hands-on experience of sewing practical garments, bags etc. The curriculum, and classes, are developed and managed by Mrs Lyall Gallo who has extensive teaching and sewing experience.
We believe that we are here to interact with, and lift one another up and walk alongside one another. This is so true of our project. We exist because an idea was lifted up and people felt its power. All of us have the power to make the world we live in, a better place. So we share knowledge and skills in order to nurture creative spirits that will ultimately change lives, strengthen communities and create partnerships.
- what you can learn -
The courses are broken up in Beginners and Intermediate as follows:
- Understanding different types of fabrics, and what they are useful for
- Learning about the various ‘tools’ used during the creation of items
- How does a sewing machine work? How to care for a sewing machine
- Learning what garments are suitable for which body types
- Ability to measure oneself to ensure correct pattern selection / creation
- Creating patterns
- Practical sewing of various items
- Assistance in how to setup a home-based business, using sewing skills, to ensure contribution to their own livelihood

Donations / assistance required
This initiative would not be possible without the donations and assistance of organisations and individuals. Money donated to our project goes solely to supporting the execution of the classes, purchasing of sewing machines (and the much required regular servicing of these), and all the fabrics and tools/accessories (including printed material) required for the students to reach their goals and expected potential.
